Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Very Inspiring Award

This is amazing and very sweet as I never expected another Award nomination. Thank you Steve @ Gardening in Greenwood | I love Gardening. If you do too I hope you enjoy this…! Steve’s blog is about gardening. His latest post walks you through his summer project, the most amazing bamboo fence. One of my favorite recent posts is about “Big Dwarf Conifers.” Steve educates his readers in the most interesting way both through the offering of his wise words of gardening and his awesome pictures. It was truly “very inspiring”–as is his blog and the man behind it, himself–Steven! Thank you so much for this honor as it came at a time when I needed a hug–and this is like one to me. When you are remembered amongst so many, it is a wonderful feeling.  Please visit his blog and you’re sure to feel inspired to garden and more! Thank you again Steve! 😀

Now, although most delighted and humbled by this award, there is work to do. This is my third award, may be my last, so I would like to make it as best as possible. Steve, you’ve encouraged me. Besides, you have provided such detailed directions that I will share them with my nominees also. So, let’s get started. One of the things I need to do is to list the rules:

Rules of the Very Inspiring Blogger Award

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and supply a link to their blog.
  2. Display the Award on your post.
  3. List the Award rules so your nominees will know what to do.
  4. State 7 things about yourself.
  5. Nominate 15 other bloggers for the Award.
  6. Contact your nominees to let them know you have nominated them and provide a link to this post about it.
  7. Proudly display the award logo (or button) on your Blog, whether on the About page, your sidebar, or on a special awards page.

Have completed Rules 1, 2 and 3. Here is 4:

7 things about myself:

  1. I love to read, read and then read some more.
  2. Music is a necessary part of my life–all genres.
  3. My favorite drink is Coca-Cola–made in Mexico only since it is made with sugar not High Fructose Corn Syrup.
  4. Views of natural environments make  me feel alive.
  5. Cold days just after a very hot summer are my favorites.
  6. Cats are a strange species that I love.
  7. Travelling is something I yearn for daily.

Now, nominee time–15 very inspiring bloggers must be nominated. These bloggers provide inspiration each time I visit their blog, whether it is because of fantastic pictures, poetry, short stories or documentaries, recipes, gardening and more! Steve’s blog inspires all around as well as the following 15 blogs that I adore. I must include the name of the blog plus the link. Now, in the words of motivational blogger Steve, what is important about the nomination is to honor “You–the nominee! If you want to accept the award, I applaud you for being willing to carry it on and follow the rules. If you don’t want to I understand and still think you Rock!”

This has been very hard since most of the blogs I follow have tons of awards, including the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. After much searching, below are the 15 blogs that I narrowed down and feel deserved the honor.  If you are on the list, remember, you don’t have to accept this honor–I understand. But, if you do wish to accept, remember to follow the 7 rules listed above.

Agreeing with Steve, each blog that I visit is “wonderful.” All deserve the honor and are appreciated. With that said, here are my 15 nominees, but remember that if it were up to me, I’d nominate all! Happy Holidays and I give thanks to ya’ll! 😀

Thanks a million Steve! Once again, you are my inspiration and motivation. You were last year around this time and once again, you lift my spirits with this honor. I look forward to your future posts.

I must add that Steve is the first to provide his nominees with valuable information about how to post the award on your site. I haven’t posted my previous two awards because I didn’t know how, don’t know how to ask for help, and so, I gave up. Once again, I must state that Steve is an awesome person for taking the time to guide his nominees. I quote the following:

“To the nominees: To make it a bit easier here are a couple of links that tell you more about the Award and how to put it up on your site. I used this and it was pretty easy to do. The hard part is linking all your nominees to your post. That took some time and energy, but it’s just copy and paste so it’s not really that bad. It’s a lot of work to receive these Awards I’m finding and I wonder about the necessity of all the rules. But I see that they are necessary if the Awards system is to continue and I hope it does. I’m doing my best to follow them and I hope you will too if you accept the Award. It’s meant as a compliment to you and not as extra work, tho I know it is.

Posting the Award to your Blog

Here are a couple of links from Lonnie… This is to his post about receiving the VIB Award and he shows you a bunch of possible logos you can use so I’m posting the link to them here instead of trying to redo them all on my site because I don’t know how. Check this out: You can also go to a site that he recommends there to get the story on putting the logo on your site itself in the sidebar. It’s from the site by Lorraine Reguly and has a neat video that explains it well. Here it is:”

Steve also ponders some questions as I did and then provides some possible answers. I quote him again because he worked so hard that he deserves acknowledgement for providing such thorough information for his nominees.

“So I guess I’ve covered everything I can think of. I’m really happy that we have these Awards. I notice a lot on some sites and none on others and I wonder why? Now I have a better idea. First you have to be nominated for an Award and then you have to do some work to make it continue. I think it’s a great way to introduce your community to new blogs they might not have heard of or read. It’s a good thing and I’m totally glad I got this Award. But I’ll think twice the next time, if there is one, before accepting I think. I’ll see what this does for me in terms of getting more likes and follows and especially comments. I don’t get many of them and I treasure them all. Please do talk to me if you like my own work. Feedback is essential if we’re going to be good at this and I’ve gotten enough to make me feel like it’s worthwhile to continue but I could use more. I wish that for everyone on here – that you have people like your posts and follow and comment on your blogs. It’s a good system and there are a Lot of us on here so what you say can have far reaching effects. That’s a good thing I think. I always try to speak directly to my readers with what I have to say, and I know that my words will echo out into the blogoshpere for years potentially. Nothing ever goes away on the net…. So blog well and conscientiously and have fun doing it. Thank You all again for Inspiring me with your blogs.”

Thank YOU Steve! Please do visit Steve at Gardening in Greenwood

Warm wishes to all!

Thank you, WhiteRabbit for mentioning me for the award. When I began blogging I did except some awards and did my best to pass them on. It really means a lot to receive the recognition. But I could just not keep up and do the blogging too. So I decided to not participate.
But thanks for referring me and your readers to some new blogs. It really is a good way to find bloggers one is interested in. I know we can’t be interested and follow everyone……although WordPress insists that we do that very thing. lol
One does slow down after reaching a certain decade…..(not telling which one)

You are very welcomed! 😀 And, I totally understand. It would be impassible–oops–impossible to follow everyone! I’m having such a darn hard time to keep up at this moment. I have you on “shortcut!” 😀

Wow. What a wonderful post. Thank you so much for being so generous and kind about me. You have inspired me a lot too, and just when I needed it as well. I’m very glad to have chosen you. Thank you saying such nice things about me and for accepting the award and carrying it forward! I understand sometimes it’s hard to accept honors, and I’m glad that you’ve gotten to where you are with it. It’s taken me awhile too… 😉 !

    • hakesplace says:

From my heart and soul… XXOO 😉

      • steven1111 says:

I’ve now visited all your nominees and I think you made some great choices. I found something to like on every one of them and commented on a few as well. Good job once again!
        Steve 😉

        • hakesplace says:

Wow! I’m glad you found something to like for each. There are so many great blogs out there. It’s like “mixedupmeme” stated, it’s impossible to keep up with all of them! I must admit I haven’t had time to visit all your nominees yet. I will let you know what I discover. Warm regards as always, 😀

  3. hakesplace says:

I’m still trying to figure out how to paste the awards on my blog…it will happen but now I must go into Nature. Will be back to continue figuring this out though! Have a Happy! 😀

And I thought today would be a particularly uneventful day on WordPress because of Thanksgiving!
I’d like to thank you for the nomination – it means a lot to me that fellow WordPress bloggers would think me worthy of such a nomination. That being said I will not pass it on. Why? Because I received this nomination earlier this year (if you’d like to read 7 things about me: and when I passed it on several of the blogs I nominated were not that thrilled, so… I felt like I was somehow ‘disturbing’ people, which was not my purpose at all!
Again, I’d like to thank you for the nomination – it’s much appreciated! 🙂

    • hakesplace says:

I searched to see if you had but did not find it. Sorry about the duplication but that goes to show you how I inspirational you are. I know some people get disturbed–I was one of those people once because it takes time when accepting. After a year and a half on WP, my feelings on the awards have changed. I feel they are worthwhile. But, just in case, I add the note that acceptance is not necessary. It’s a gesture, a token of kindness and appreciation to fellow bloggers. But, to each his own. You are very welcomed and am looking forward to seeing more of Lisbon! Love Portugal! 😀

Thanks for the shout-out, and congratulations! 🙂
